Prunus avium 'Plena' has glorious double white flowers and is a cultivar of our native Wild Cherry tree. The blousy flowers hang elegantly in clusters all over the branches in April-May and are complimented by a canvas of dark-green leaves. In autumn, the foliage turns vibrant crimson before falling and small reddish-purple fruits adorn the tree.
One of our larger Flowering Cherry trees, Prunus avium 'Plena' will grow to an estimated height and spread of 8 x 8 metres in 20 year. It is suited to most well-draining soils and can grow well in urban sites as it is pollution tolerant. 'Plena' is a top choice if space allows.
